TRACTOR CHECKLIST

T&D'S TRACTOR CHECKLIST

There are a series of checks each tractor goes through, after the tractor gets delivered to our shop, and before it is advertised.  No tractor just comes in and gets sold without being thoroughly checked first.
These are some of the major components that we check for on each tractor:
      • Engine, transmission, PTO, hydraulics and 3pt hitch

      • Steering, brakes, electrical, gauges and oil leaks

      • A/C in tractors with sound guard cab

We field test them on our farm as well, when possible, to see how the tractor performs. If there is any question, about the function of the tractor, then we will either  do a transmission pressure test, or a dyno test to diagnose the problem.

WHAT IS A DYNO TEST?

A dyno test can answer a wide variety of questions and as well as test a tractor’s capability under a working load.

The following questions can be answered during a dyno test:

    • Does the engine produce its rated PTO horsepower?

    • Does the engine overheat under load?

    • Does the engine have blow by? How much?

    • Does the engine, head gasket or water pump have leaks?

    • Does the water temperature gauge work correctly?

    • Does the PTO clutch engage or does it slip under load?

    • Does the PTO brake shut off properly?

    • Are there any fuel leaks?
